Berlin: The German government called for firmness and unity in responding to the repeated Russian violations of NATO airspace on Monday. In a statement, German Federal Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul stressed before leaving for Warsaw, Poland to participate in the "Weimar Triangle" meetings-comprising Germany, France, and Poland-that the allies will stand united, while at the same time maintain calm and avoid being dragged into escalation.
According to Kuwait News Agency, Wadephul emphasized the alliance countries' readiness and comprehensive response to any threat, stating that Russia bears responsibility for the recent drone incursions into NATO airspace. He asserted that these incursions are "not accidental" but rather "deliberate attacks," describing them as "hybrid attacks whose sole purpose is to test the resolve of the alliance countries."
The Minister's statements followed announcements from Poland and Denmark that their airspace had been violated by drones in recent weeks, with both countries attributing the incursions to Russia, despite Moscow's denials.
The Weimar Triangle meetings are set to include the German, French, and Polish Foreign Ministers, with the Ukrainian Foreign Minister joining the consultations later.
