GCC Volunteer Work Forum Commences in Doha.

Doha: The GCC fifth edition of the Gulf Volunteer Work Forum for Red Crescent Societies and associations kicked off Wednesday, hosted by Qatar Red Crescent for the next two days. In a speech at the opening of the forum, the Secretary-General of the Qatar Red Crescent, Faisal Al-Amadi, praised the humanitarian and volunteer work provided by the Red Crescent Societies in the GCC countries, emphasizing the forum's potential as a platform for exchanging views and experiences to enhance volunteer work. According to Kuwait News Agency, Al-Amadi highlighted that this forum originated from a proposal by Qatar and was officially approved at the meeting of the heads of the Red Crescent Societies and Associations in the GCC countries in 2017. He underscored the significant role of volunteer efforts in various fields, which foster hope, develop societies, and bring about meaningful changes. Al-Amadi stated that the forum aims to strengthen the culture of volunteering among Gulf youth, cultivate a sense of responsibilit y, encourage interaction with others, and showcase pioneering youth initiatives in the volunteering sector. It also seeks to facilitate the exchange of expertise and experiences in volunteer work among GCC countries. For his part, the representative of the General Secretariat of the Cooperation Council, Ahmad Al-Qurainis, remarked that the forum represents the essence of Gulf cooperation in the humanitarian and volunteer field.
