GCC-EU High Ministerial Forum on Regional Security and Cooperation Begins in Kuwait

Kuwait city: The 2nd High-Level Ministerial Forum on Regional Security and Cooperation between the GCC and the EU commenced in Kuwait. The forum aims to strengthen the joint strategic partnership in addressing mutual challenges. It is chaired by Abdullah Al-Yahya, the Kuwaiti Minister of Foreign Affairs and Chairman of the current GCC ministerial session, representing the GCC, and Kaya Kallas, the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission, representing the EU.

According to Kuwait News Agency, the forum is attended by Jasim Al-Budaiwi, the Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council. The discussions will cover regional and international issues of common interest, including developments in the Middle East, cooperation in maritime security, the protection of sea-lanes, and international trade. The event is strategically scheduled ahead of the 29th joint ministerial meeting between the GCC and the EU, set for tomorrow.

The discussions also aim to enhance trade and energy cooperation, combat climate change, and follow up on the implementation of the outcomes of the first GCC-EU summit held in Brussels last year.
