GCC Chief and Japanese Foreign Minister Discuss Enhancement of Trade and Economic Relations

Riyadh: The Secretary General of the GCC, Jassem Al-Budaiwi, met with the Japanese Minister of Foreign Affairs, Takeshi Iwaya, at the General Secretariat headquarters in Riyadh to discuss enhancing bilateral relations in trade and economy.

According to Kuwait News Agency, both parties explored ways to strengthen Gulf-Japanese cooperative relations, focusing on trade and economic ties to fulfill common aspirations for advanced bilateral relations. They also talked about preparations for the second round of negotiations in Tokyo, scheduled for the end of June next year, following the first round held in Japan in December 2024.

Al-Budaiwi emphasized the significance of the agreement, highlighting the strong relations and strategic partnership between GCC states and Japan. The meeting included a review of the joint action plan for 2024-2028, which aims to enhance cooperation in energy, trade, investment, education, health, tourism, cultural exchange, and political coordination.

Additionally, the meeting covered developments in regional and international arenas, reflecting the ongoing commitment to strengthening mutual ties and addressing global challenges.
