Gaza Famine Intensifies as 185 Palestinians Die in August

Gaza: Gaza's health authorities reported Tuesday that 185 people died from malnutrition in August, marking the highest toll in recent months and highlighting a rapidly worsening famine situation in the region.

According to Kuwait News Agency, the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) has declared Gaza in famine, with 70 individuals, including 12 children, having died since the declaration. The humanitarian crisis is further underscored by the plight of approximately 43,000 malnourished children under the age of five and more than 55,000 affected pregnant and breastfeeding women. Notably, 67 percent of pregnant women in Gaza are suffering from anemia, the worst rate recorded in years.

Officials have expressed concern over the limited emergency response capabilities and the severe shortages of food and medicine. They emphasize the urgent need for intervention to address and mitigate the escalating humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
