Cairo: French President Emmanuel Macron arrived in Cairo on Sunday for a three-day official visit aimed at discussing bilateral relations and regional issues, with a particular focus on the situation in Gaza. The visit underscores France's commitment to engaging with key regional players on pressing geopolitical challenges.
According to Kuwait News Agency, Macron highlighted the significance of French-Egyptian aviation cooperation by noting on his X account the involvement of Egyptian Rafale aircraft in his arrival. This reference to the French-made Rafale fighter jets, also in service with the Egyptian Air Force, symbolizes the deepening military ties between the two nations.
Macron's itinerary includes a crucial meeting with Egyptian President Abelfattah Al-Sisi, where they are expected to sign several agreements and deliberate on the ongoing crisis in Gaza. The discussions are set to expand on Monday with the inclusion of Jordanian King Abdullah II, focusing on plans for Gaza's reconstruction and strategies to reinstate the ceasefire agreement.
On Tuesday, Macron is scheduled to visit Arish, a city near the Gaza Strip. There, he will observe the efforts of relief teams from French and international NGOs working to deliver aid to Gaza, highlighting France's humanitarian commitment to the region.
