Freed Sumud Flotilla Activists Return to Turkiye

Istanbul: A plane boarding released activists of the Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) arrived at Istanbul airport on Saturday. The activists had been detained by the Israeli occupation forces from several boats that attempted to reach Gaza for aid delivery for the war-battered population.

According to Kuwait News Agency, the official news agency, Anadolu, reported that the plane touched down at 15:50 p.m. (local time) coming from Ramon airport in Eilat, the south of the occupation entity. The aircraft carried 36 Turkish citizens and 137 activists from 12 countries, including 23 Malaysians.

The freed detainees were welcomed by Turkish officials and citizens upon their arrival. Earlier, the Turkish foreign ministry had announced that the plane would transport 36 Turks and citizens from 12 countries, namely the US, the UAE, Algeria, Morocco, Libya, Kuwait, Italy, Malaysia, Mauritania, Switzerland, Tunisia, and Jordan.
