Paris: France welcomed on Tuesday the announcement by US President Donald Trump of a ceasefire agreement between Iran and the Israeli occupation, expressing hope that this announcement would be a step toward a complete end to hostilities in the region.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the French Foreign Ministry affirmed that "France calls on all parties to fully respect the ceasefire," stressing that "it is in everyone's interest to prevent a new wave of violence that could have catastrophic consequences for the stability and security of the entire region." Paris reiterated its steadfast position that "only a diplomatic solution can offer a sustainable response to the security challenges related to the Iranian nuclear program," while emphasizing the need to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons under any circumstances.
In this regard, Paris urged Tehran to "urgently engage in negotiations that lead to a comprehensive agreement addressing all concerns surrounding its nuclear and ballistic missile programs, as well as its destabilizing activities in the region." The statement added that France, in coordination with its partners, is making every possible effort to contribute to reaching this goal.
