Kuwait City: The EU cautioned on Sunday that the Israeli occupation forces’ decision to halt humanitarian aid access into the besieged Gaza Strip might cause humanitarian repercussions.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the EU called for the rapid resumption of negotiations on the second phase of the Gaza ceasefire deal, emphasizing strong support for the mediators. The EU highlighted that a permanent ceasefire deal would aid in the release of all remaining Israeli captives and ensure favorable conditions for the rebuilding and recovery of Gaza.
The EU reiterated its call for safe, rapid, and full humanitarian aid access to the Gaza Strip to meet the needs of a large number of people and to facilitate the work of humanitarian and international organizations within the region.
In January, the EU announced the deployment of the European Union Border Assistance Mission for the Rafah Crossing Point, following a request from both the Palestinian and Israeli sides. This mission was initially formed in November 2005 to provide a third-party presence at the crossing between Gaza and Egypt, as per an agreement signed by the Palestinian Authority and the Israeli occupation government. However, the mission’s activities were suspended in 2007.
Earlier in the day, the Israeli occupation government decided to block humanitarian aid access to Gaza following the completion of the first phase of the ceasefire deal.
