The hague: The European Union and Group of Seven countries have issued a joint statement urging Iran to return to the negotiating table for nuclear talks. The statement came after a meeting of G7 Foreign Ministers from Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States, along with the High Representative of the European Union, Kaja Kallas, in The Hague.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the statement emphasized support for the Iran-Israeli occupation ceasefire and highlighted the role of Qatar in facilitating this ceasefire. The Foreign Ministers expressed solidarity with Qatar and Iraq following recent strikes by Iran and its associated groups.
The statement reiterated that Iran should never possess nuclear weapons and called for an end to Iran's enrichment activities. It urged the resumption of negotiations to achieve a comprehensive agreement on Iran's nuclear program. The EU and G7 also demanded that Iran cooperate fully with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and allow access to inspectors.
Additionally, the statement condemned calls within Iran for the arrest and execution of IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi. The Ministers highlighted the importance of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty as vital for global security and reiterated their commitment to peace in the Middle East.
