Vienna: Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jassem Al-Budaiwi, sent Tuesday a congratulatory cable to Sheikha Hessa bint Ali Al-Khalifa on her election as Second Vice-Chair of the United Nations Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space (COPUOS).
According to Kuwait News Agency, the election took place during the 68th session in the Austrian capital, Vienna. In his cable, the Secretary General expressed his sincere congratulations to Sheikha Hessa, stressing that this achievement is a source of pride for the Kingdom of Bahrain and the GCC countries.
The statement also reflects the position attained by Gulf talents, especially Bahraini women who have proven their merit and distinction in various international forums, stated Al-Budaiwi. He emphasized the role of Bahraini women in the fields of science and technology, and the support they receive from Bahrain's leadership, which has enabled them to contribute to the sustainable development process and enhance their presence in regional and international leadership positions.
