Egypt and Oman Advocate for Diplomatic Resolution to Iran Nuclear Tensions

Cairo: Egypt and Oman have highlighted the importance of maintaining the ceasefire between Iran and Israel and emphasized diplomatic avenues as a solution to the Iranian nuclear crisis, aiming for regional de-escalation and stability. This announcement came after a meeting between Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and his Omani counterpart Badr Albusaidi, which was followed by a joint committee meeting between the two nations, as stated by the Egyptian Foreign Ministry in a press release.

According to Kuwait News Agency, the discussions between the ministers covered several regional issues, with a particular focus on the necessity of resuming the Gaza ceasefire. They stressed the importance of releasing prisoners and allowing humanitarian, relief, and medical aid into the region. The Egyptian minister also informed his Omani counterpart about Cairo's plans to host an international conference focused on Gaza's early recovery and reconstruction, contingent on the successful establishment of a ceasefire agreement.

Both ministers reaffirmed their countries' strong opposition to the displacement of Palestinians from Gaza. They committed to enhancing joint efforts to garner international support for the Arab plan for Gaza reconstruction and a two-state solution.

Concluding their meeting, the ministers signed seven memoranda of understanding (MoUs) and executive programs that cover various sectors, including labor, mineral resources, investment, media, food safety, endowments, and religious affairs.
