EU Allocates 202 Million Euro to Support UNRWA, Palestinian Authority

Brussels: The European Commission has announced the allocation of 202 million euro to support the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) and the Palestinian Authority. This funding is part of the EU's ongoing multi-year program aimed at supporting recovery efforts in Palestine.

According to Kuwait News Agency, 150 million euro will be directed towards the Palestinian Authority. This funding will aid in the provision of essential public services, including the payment of salaries for teachers, civil servants, and healthcare workers. The allocation is tied to the Palestinian Authority's commitment to implementing agreed-upon reform measures.

Additionally, 52 million euro will be allocated to UNRWA. This financial support is intended to help the agency continue providing crucial services such as education, primary healthcare, and humanitarian aid to Palestinian refugees residing in Gaza, the West Bank, and various host countries.

European Commissioner for Mediterranean Affairs, Dubravka Suica, emphasized the EU's steadfast support for Palestinians. She expressed deep concern over the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza and rising tensions in the West Bank, reiterating the EU's dedication to a just and lasting two-state negotiated peace solution.

This funding installment marks the initial phase of a broader 1.6 billion euro package, which was announced during the EU-Palestinian Authority high-level political dialogue on April 14, 2025.
