China Strongly Objects to US Arms Sale Plan to Taiwan

China: China on Friday expressed deep discontent with a US plan to sell Taiwan USD 330 million worth of arms, reiterating Beijing's stance that it views Taiwan as an inseparable part of a "single China." Foreign Ministry spokesperson Li Jian was reacting at a news conference to reports that Washington endorsed a plan to sell weapons to Taiwan, including spare parts for F-16 and C-130 Hercules aircraft.

According to Kuwait News Agency, the Chinese television station CCTV quoted Li as saying that Washington's arms sales to Taiwan breach statements that had been inked by China and the US regarding Chinese sovereignty. Li emphasized that the American step violates international law and sends a dangerous and erroneous message to separatist forces.
