Kuwait City: Acting Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Yusuf Suad Al-Sabah chaired the cabinet's weekly session on Thursday at Bayan Palace.
According to Kuwait News Agency, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Sherida Al-Maousherji reported that the cabinet was briefed by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, alongside His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah. Their visits to the Ministry of Defense, the National Guard, Interior Ministry, and the Kuwait Fire Force were in recognition of the holy month of Ramadan. His Highness the Amir commended their efforts in safeguarding the nation and emphasized continued support for enhancing their capabilities with the latest technology.
The cabinet also discussed His Highness the Crown Prince's speech at the extraordinary Arab summit in Cairo, reaffirming Kuwait's position against the displacement of Palestinians and advocating for their human rights and sovereignty. The Crown Prince called on the international community, particularly the UN Security Council, to address these issues.
In further developments, the cabinet acknowledged the resignation of Minister of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy Dr. Mahmoud Bushehri, expressing gratitude for his contributions. Additionally, the cabinet decided on the official holiday schedule for Eid Al-Fitr, contingent on the sighting of the moon. If Eid falls on Sunday, a three-day holiday will be observed; if on Monday, a five-day holiday will commence.
State agencies with distinct operational needs will determine their own holiday schedules, keeping the public interest in mind. The Minister of Finance and Minister of State for Economic Affairs and Investment, Noura Al-Fassam, presented a draft decree on financing and liquidity, which was approved and forwarded to His Highness the Amir for ratification.
Lastly, the cabinet approved the works of a higher committee established to investigate and resolve citizenship issues, particularly cases of revoked citizenships in accordance with the law.
