Arab Permanent Information Committee Convenes 104th Session in Kuwait

Kuwait city: Meetings of the 104th regular session of the Arab Permanent Committee on Information commenced on Tuesday in Kuwait, with the participation of several Arab states and under the chairmanship of Committee President Abdulrahman Al-Obaidan.

According to Kuwait News Agency, Kuwait's Undersecretary of the Ministry of Information, Dr. Nasser Mohsen, highlighted in his address that the session underscores the unified role of Arab media in addressing regional issues and enhancing media solidarity. He pointed out the significance of holding these meetings during challenging times, emphasizing the importance of cooperation and the establishment of a responsible Arab media discourse grounded in truth, credibility, stability, and development.

Assistant Secretary-General of the Arab League for Media Affairs, Ambassador Ahmad Khattabi, remarked on Kuwait's hosting of the meetings as a preparatory step for the 22nd session of the Executive Bureau of the Council of Arab Information Ministers. He acknowledged Kuwait's enduring support for Arab media initiatives and discussed follow-up efforts on decisions from the 55th session of the Council of Arab Information Ministers. Khattabi noted the increasing variety of media issues with a focus on shared Arab concerns, particularly highlighting the Palestinian cause.

Khattabi further emphasized the necessity of protecting Palestinian journalists and acknowledged the establishment of May 11 as an international day of solidarity with Palestinian media. He also stressed the importance of activating the external media action plan, expediting the implementation of approved strategies, addressing digital transformation and artificial intelligence, and enhancing media literacy.

The meeting is set to submit its recommendations to the Executive Bureau session scheduled for Wednesday.
