Cairo: The 164th ordinary session of the Arab League's Council of Foreign Ministers commenced on Thursday, led by the United Arab Emirates. The gathering saw the involvement of numerous heads of delegations, including Kuwait's Foreign Minister, Abdullah Al-Yahya. Central to the session's discussions were critical issues such as the Palestinian cause, the ongoing violations by the Israeli occupation against the Palestinian people, Arab national security, and a spectrum of political, economic, social, and legal topics.
According to Kuwait News Agency, Emirati Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Khalifa Al-Marar, who is chairing the current session, highlighted in his opening remarks the unprecedented and dangerous situations faced by the Arab region. He stressed the urgent need for collaborative Arab efforts to address these crises and challenges effectively.
The ministers deliberated on matters concerning solidarity with Lebanon, Syria, Libya, and Yemen, alongside issues related to national security, energy, and resource security. Additionally, the session examined Arab relations with countries such as China, India, Japan, and South American nations, and explored the establishment of a partnership between the Arab League and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
Kuwait was represented by a delegation led by Minister Al-Yahya, along with Kuwait's Permanent Representative to the Arab League, Ambassador Talal Al-Mutairi, and various officials.
