India and EU Leaders Engage in Discussions on Ukraine Conflict and Bilateral Relations

New delhi: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday engaged in discussions with European Union (EU) leaders concerning the Ukraine conflict, as well as bilateral and global issues.

According to Kuwait News Agency, a statement from the Indian Prime Minister's Office detailed that Modi participated in a joint telephone call with President of the European Council Antonio Costa and President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen. The discussions emphasized the importance of the India-EU Strategic Partnership in addressing global challenges, fostering stability, and promoting a rules-based order for shared prosperity.

The leaders shared their views on regional and global issues of mutual concern, particularly focusing on efforts to resolve the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. Modi reaffirmed India's steadfast support for a peaceful resolution and the swift restoration of peace and stability in the region.

In the realm of bilateral relations, Indian and European leaders celebrated advancements across key sectors such as trade, technology, investment, innovation, sustainability, defense, security, and supply chain resilience. They also emphasized their joint commitment to expediting the conclusion of the India-EU Free Trade Agreement (FTA) negotiations and the implementation of the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor.

Additionally, both parties deliberated on the organization of the next India-EU Summit, aiming to schedule it at a mutually convenient date in India.

"India and EU share a strong and close relationship built on trust, shared values, and a common vision for the future," the statement added.
