Arab League Endorses UN Roadmap for Resolving Libyan Crisis

Cairo: Secretary-General of the Arab League Ahmad Abul-Gheit on Sunday expressed support for the newly announced UN roadmap designed to address the ongoing crisis in Libya.

According to Kuwait News Agency, Ahmad Abul-Gheit emphasized the importance of the roadmap, which was unveiled by Chief of the UN Mission in Libya, Hanna Tetteh, during a United Nations Security Council briefing on Thursday. The statement was relayed by the Arab League secretary-general's spokesman, Jamal Rushdi.

The Arab League, based in Cairo, reiterated its support for the UN's efforts to resolve internal conflicts within Libya and to restore stability to the North African nation. Ahmad Abul-Gheit described the UN roadmap as a genuine opportunity for all Libyan parties to engage in an inclusive political resolution.

Hanna Tetteh, who serves as the UN secretary-general's special representative for Libya and heads the UN Support Mission in Libya, presented the roadmap in her briefing to the UNSC. The plan primarily aims to facilitate general elections and to unify the country's state institutions, marking a significant step in Libya's path toward stability.
