Arab League Chief Urges Solidarity With Qatar Ahead of Emergency Summit

Doha: Secretary-General of the Arab League Ahmad Aboul-Gheit announced that the upcoming Emergency Arab-Islamic Summit, set for Monday, aims to express a unified message of solidarity with Qatar following the recent Israeli occupation attack on Doha on September 9.

According to Kuwait News Agency, Aboul-Gheit emphasized the importance of supporting Qatar due to its pivotal role in joint mediation efforts with Egypt to halt the violence in the occupied Palestinian territories. Speaking at a pre-summit ministerial meeting on Sunday, he condemned what he described as the "shameful" silence of various countries regarding the ongoing crimes perpetrated by Israeli occupation forces in the Gaza Strip and other parts of the Middle East over the last two years.

Aboul-Gheit criticized the lack of international response, suggesting that such silence emboldens Israeli forces to continue their actions without fear of repercussions. He argued that failing to speak out against these crimes not only constitutes a crime in itself but also lays the groundwork for future atrocities. He called for accountability for those responsible for war crimes, including acts of genocide, displacement, and starvation that have devastated communities in the Gaza Strip.

Aboul-Gheit further condemned the recent aggression on Doha by Israeli forces, viewing it as an attempt to escalate violence. He praised Qatar for its commitment to peace and its involvement in mediation efforts, urging for increased efforts to halt the violence perpetrated by Israeli occupation authorities.

The preparatory ministerial meeting was chaired by Qatari Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jasem Al Thani and included representatives from member states of the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
