Spain Hosts Crucial Trade Talks Between China and US

Madrid: The Spanish Foreign Ministry said on Sunday that it is hosting trade negotiations between delegations from the United States and China, as part of efforts to contain trade disputes amongst the two countries.

According to Kuwait News Agency, Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Albares received both US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng, as well as their accompanying delegations at the Santa Cruz Palace. The discussions focused on disputes over tariffs, efforts against money laundering, as well as other topics of contention.

The meeting also aims to pave a path for a meeting between US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping, who may meet at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in South Korea at the end of next October.
