Algiers: Algeria's Minister of Hydrocarbons and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, announced that Sonatrach, the national oil company, has made 13 new oil discoveries from January to August this year. The announcement was made during Arkab's address to the parliament's budget and financial committee, which met to discuss the 2026 budget bill.
According to Kuwait News Agency, these discoveries were achieved through the efforts of Sonatrach, which will enable Algeria to increase its initial fuel output by renewing its reserves. Minister Arkab highlighted that the company successfully completed the drilling of 142 wells by the end of August, compared to 121 wells in the same period in 2024.
