Kuwait city: Acting Minister of Information and Culture, Omar Al-Omar, praised the GCC Joint Program Production Institution (GCCJPPI) as a cornerstone of pan-Gulf media cooperation. Al-Omar, who also serves as minister of state for communications and information technology, made this remark during his participation, representing His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, in a high-profile ceremony at the Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Cultural Center to celebrate the Golden Jubilee of the GCCJPPI.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the Minister also described the institution as a vital cultural bridge and platform for awareness, a source of culture, a mirror of identity, and a bridge of communication between the peoples of the region. He added that fifty years is not merely a milestone, but a long journey of collaborative institutional work during which the institution has successfully engaged generations, instilled values, and strengthened Gulf and Arab identity.
Its work has become an integral part of the collective memory of Gulf families and a hallmark of high-quality, purposeful content that blends authenticity with innovation, he elaborated. The Minister emphasized the GCCJPPI's role as a soft power tool and called for a modernization roadmap and future-ready media vision.
The next phase requires a more profound and comprehensive vision that keeps pace with the rapid transformations in the media industry, leverages modern technologies, and enhances joint Gulf content to make it more influential, competitive, and present in both the regional and international arenas, he stated. He considered unifying the vision in joint Gulf media production "a strategic step towards formulating a balanced and responsible media discourse that reflects the aspirations of our leaders, responds to the awareness of our generations, and safeguards our authenticity in a world of accelerating changes, multiplying platforms, and escalating challenges."
For his part, the Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jasem Al-Budaiwi, in his address, extended his deepest gratitude and appreciation to His Highness the Amir of Kuwait, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah for his support to the GCC institutions. Al-Budaiwi voiced his pride in the institution's Golden Jubilee, hailing the foundation as a pioneering entity that has consistently provided a high-caliber media window for the region.
He emphasized its enduring role as a vital platform for cultural exchange and institutional excellence within the GCC. "Throughout its illustrious history, it has contributed to consolidating Gulf identity, promoting shared Gulf values, and conveying the true image of our Gulf societies to successive generations through high-quality programs that blend tradition and modernity, resonating with the hearts of Gulf citizens at all stages of their lives," he said.
He underscored that the GCCJPPI is not merely a media production entity, but a pioneering Gulf institution in utilizing media as an effective tool for education, awareness building, strengthening Gulf identity, and consolidating the concepts of unity and integration among the peoples of the region. "This reflects the crucial role of media in supporting the development process and keeping pace with rapid transformations in a responsible manner and with purposeful content," he clarified.
Echoing these sentiments, GCCJPPI Director-General Sheikh Mubarak Fahad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah affirmed his institution has never been merely a production institution, but rather an idea and a symbol of joint Gulf action and a cornerstone of Gulf media. Sheikh Mubarak Al-Sabah underlined that the institution has carried a clear civilizational message since its inception: to shape awareness, preserve identity, and transmit Gulf and Arab culture to successive generations.
He asserted that the institution remains the "custodian of cultural memory" for the region. He noted that in an era of rapid digital shifts, the institution's primary mission is to serve as a reliable and safe content source for the region's youth.
