5.6 Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Haftkel City, Iran.


Haftkel: An earthquake measuring 5.6 magnitude on the Richter scale struck Haftkel City in Iran’s western Khuzestan province early Thursday, according to the country’s seismology center. The tremor was recorded at 07.32 a.m. local time and occurred at a depth of 10 kilometers, as detailed in a press release from the center.

According to Kuwait News Agency, the quake caused damage to some houses in Haftkel City. The disaster management agency of Khuzestan province reported that they are still assessing the extent of the damage in the affected area. This recent seismic activity follows a previous earthquake in June, when a five-magnitude quake hit Kashmar City in Iran’s north-eastern Razavi Khorasan province, resulting in four fatalities and 120 injuries.
