Riyadh: The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) at King Khalid International Airport has thwarted an attempt to smuggle 38,340 amphetamine pills that were concealed inside a postal parcel arriving in the Kingdom.

According to Saudi Press Agency, ZATCA official spokesperson Hamoud Al-Harbi stated that the parcel arrived in the Kingdom via King Khalid International Airport and that the pills were discovered during routine customs and security inspections.

He added that following the seizure, the authority coordinated with the General Directorate of Narcotics Control to apprehend the intended recipients of the contraband, resulting in the arrest of two individuals in the Kingdom.

Al-Harbi affirmed that ZATCA continues to tighten customs control at all its outlets, strengthen oversight of the Kingdom's imports and exports, and firmly counter smuggling attempts as part of its strategy to enhance security and protect society from prohibited substances and other illicit items. He urged the public to support these efforts by reporting smuggling activities via the designated hotline 1910, the email [email protected], or the international number 009661910.
