Kuwait city: Minister of Information and Culture and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi extended his sincere congratulations to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, and to Kuwait Handball Association, as well as the national team players and the technical and administrative staff on the national team's qualification for the IHF Men's Handball World Championship 2027 in Germany.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the national team advanced to the semifinals of the 22nd Asian Men's Handball Championship, a qualifier for the World Championship, after beating South Korea 31-27 at the Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Sports Complex on Sunday.
In a press release, Minister Al-Mutairi said this achievement is the result of the support from the political leadership, may God protect and guide them, and that it embodies the spirit of teamwork among the Kuwaiti players. He praised the performance of the players, which led to this qualification.
On this occasion, financial rewards will be allocated to the national handball team in appreciation of their efforts throughout the championship, he added.
He also commended the Kuwaiti fans who supported the players in this match and throughout the tournament, noting that their support played a role in achieving this accomplishment.
He affirmed that the Public Authority for Sport, in line with its strategy, is keen to provide an environment for all national teams during their participation in sporting events, ensuring the best technical and administrative conditions and enabling players to perform at their highest levels. Minister Al-Mutairi also praised the efforts of the Higher Committee responsible for organizing the championships and sporting events hosted by Kuwait, for providing the elements necessary for the tournament's organizational and technical success. He also wished the national team success in the championship and in achieving the title.
