Western Nations Present IAEA Resolution Against Iran for Non-Compliance

Vienna: Western nations have tabled a resolution against Iran during a meeting of the UN nuclear watchdog's board of governors, accusing Tehran of a "lack" of cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). The resolution was introduced by the United States, France, the United Kingdom, and Germany, who collectively hold Iran accountable for its "failures to uphold its obligations since 2019 to the IAEA with full and timely cooperation" regarding nuclear activities at several undeclared sites.

According to Kuwait News Agency, the draft resolution argues that Iran's actions amount to "non-compliance" with the requirements outlined in the Safeguards Agreement Tehran has with the UN nuclear watchdog. The resolution emphasizes that Tehran's "failure" to collaborate effectively with the IAEA has left the agency "unable" to confirm that Iran's nuclear program is solely for peaceful purposes.

IAEA chief Rafael Grossi referenced an IAEA quarterly report on the NPT Safeguards Agreement with Tehran during the discussion. The report highlighted the discovery of man-made uranium particles at three undeclared locations in Iran, leading to conclusions about a "structured nuclear program" being conducted by Iran.
