US Supports South Korea’s Reversal of Martial Law Order.

Seoul: The United States has expressed its support for South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol's decision to rescind the emergency martial law order that was declared earlier in accordance with the country's constitution. According to Kuwait News Agency, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken issued a statement late Tuesday, emphasizing the importance of resolving political disagreements peacefully and following the rule of law. Blinken reaffirmed the US's commitment to the people of South Korea and the US-ROK alliance, which is grounded in shared principles of democracy and the rule of law. President Yoon's declaration of martial law, made during a sudden late-night address, had stirred memories of a more authoritarian past as troops attempted to enter the National Assembly's main hall. This move prompted a gathering of opponents outside following the announcement. The president justified the declaration by accusing the main opposition party of sympathizing with North Korea and engaging in anti-state activities . His accusations were based on the opposition Democratic Party's actions, which include their motion to impeach top prosecutors and reject a government budget proposal. In response, the South Korean Parliament held an emergency session attended by 190 of its 300 members. During this session, they voted on a law to suspend the martial law decision, effectively rejecting the president's order.
