US President Trump Delays EU Tariffs Until July 9

Washington: President Donald Trump announced that he has agreed to postpone the implementation of a 50 percent tariff on imports from the European Union until July 9. This decision was made during a recent phone conversation with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.

According to Kuwait News Agency, in a statement released on the Truth Social platform, President Trump emphasized the significance of the trade relationship between the EU and the US, describing it as the most consequential and close in the world. He noted that Europe is ready to advance trade discussions swiftly and decisively, adding that additional time until July 9 is necessary to reach a favorable agreement.

Previously, on Friday, President Trump had threatened to impose the 50 percent tariffs in early June, citing a stalemate in trade talks and describing his experiences in negotiations as challenging.
