Washington: US President Donald Trump on Wednesday issued an executive order pledging to guarantee Qatar’s security in the aftermath of the Israeli occupation’s unprecedented air strikes on the country last month. The order emphasized the United States’ commitment to safeguarding Qatar’s security and territorial integrity against external threats.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the executive order declared that any armed attack on Qatar’s territory, sovereignty, or critical infrastructure would be considered a threat to the peace and security of the United States. This move highlights the strategic importance of Qatar to US interests in the region and underscores the United States’ readiness to respond to foreign aggression targeting the Gulf nation.
The executive order followed a recent apology from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to Qatar for a recent attack that resulted in the death of a Qatari citizen. The apology was delivered during a joint call from President Trump and Prime Minister Netanyahu at the White House, indicating diplomatic efforts to address tensions and prevent further escalation.
