US Military Deploys 1,500 Troops and Aircraft to Southern Border

San Diego: The US Department of Defense (DOD) announced on Wednesday the deployment of 1,500 troops to the US-Mexico border, along with additional military aircraft to aid in the deportation of illegal immigrants. This move comes as part of a strategy to enhance border security.

According to Kuwait News Agency, the DOD has outlined that these troops will be involved in activities such as detection and monitoring. This deployment signifies a 60 percent increase in active-duty ground forces since President Donald Trump assumed office on Monday. The military aircraft will support deportation flights for more than 5,000 illegal immigrants currently detained in San Diego, California, and El Paso, Texas.

President Donald Trump declared a national emergency at the southern border on his first day in office and tasked the Department of Defense with taking decisive action. The department is set to develop and execute additional missions in collaboration with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), federal agencies, and state partners to address the threats identified by the President at the nation's borders.

President Trump emphasized the need to protect the security and safety of US citizens, prompting him to declare a national emergency at the southern border. He instructed the Secretaries of Defense and Homeland Security to take all necessary measures to achieve complete operational control of the border.
