US Authorities Lift Evacuation Orders for Palisades and Eaton Fire Areas

Los Angeles: The US authorities have lifted evacuation orders for some areas affected by the Palisades and Eaton fires as containment efforts have significantly progressed. The announcement marks a crucial step in the ongoing battle against the fires that have caused widespread disruption and damage in the region.

According to Kuwait News Agency, Los Angeles County Sheriff Robert Luna reported that while evacuations have been lifted for certain areas, other residents are still awaiting clearance to return home. Luna emphasized the substantial progress made by firefighters over the past week in combating the fires, which have posed significant challenges to the Los Angeles area.

The Palisades Fire, which ignited over a week ago in Pacific Palisades, is currently 31 percent contained and has affected 23,700 acres. Meanwhile, the Eaton Fire has reached 65 percent containment, impacting 14,100 acres. Sheriff Luna cautioned that while some evacuations for the Palisades Fire have been lifted, residents in severely affected neighborhoods may face a wait of a week or more before returning to their homes.

Additionally, authorities are investigating 31 cases of missing persons in connection to the fires, indicating the broader impact on local communities.
