US Assures China of Non-Hostile Intentions Despite Strategic Interests

Washington: The United States has assured China that it harbors no hostile intentions toward the nation, clarifying its stance on their bilateral relations.

According to Kuwait News Agency, the Pentagon revealed that US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth communicated with China's Minister of National Defense, Admiral Dong Jun. During their conversation, Hegseth emphasized that the United States does not seek conflict with China, nor is it pursuing regime change or attempting to undermine the Asian nation. Despite these assurances, Hegseth reiterated that the US has crucial interests in the Asia-Pacific region, which it considers a priority theater, and it remains committed to protecting those interests.

The discussion between the US Secretary and the Chinese Minister was described as candid and constructive, with both parties agreeing on the importance of continuing dialogue to address mutual concerns. This development comes amidst a backdrop of recent comments by President Donald Trump, who suggested that India and Russia have gravitated towards China following a summit between the leaders of these three regional powers. Trump's statement indicated a shift in alliances, as he remarked on social media about the potential new world order emerging in Asia.

The US-China relationship has been strained by several issues, including trade tariffs and US support for Taiwan, further complicating diplomatic interactions. Nonetheless, the assurance from the US aims to mitigate any misunderstandings and foster a more cooperative relationship with China.
