Washington: US President Donald Trump vowed to strengthen ties with Central Asia. In a speech after meetings with leaders of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan late Thursday, Trump said that the meetings held in the White House's Oval Office were fruitful.
According to Kuwait News Agency, Trump emphasized that the US aims to bolster relations with this "very important part of the universe." He highlighted efforts to enhance economic partnerships, improve security cooperation, and expand overall bonds with the Central Asian nations. "Tremendous amounts of trade was done just in the last little while," he noted.
Trump further mentioned that "lots of great products, military products and otherwise are being bought from the United States." He reflected on the historical significance of the region, noting that these nations were once home to the ancient Silk Road, which connected east and west. "Today, their location in the heart of Eurasia gives them incredible importance and unbelievable potential," Trump added.
