UNSC to Hold Urgent Meeting on Iran

New York: The UN Security Council was to hold an urgent session Friday to discuss the situation in Iran.

According to Kuwait News Agency, UN Under Secretary General for Political and Peacebuilding Affairs Rosemary DiCarlo and Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Grossi are expected to brief the council. The meeting comes in the wake of escalating tensions between Israel and Iran.

The Israeli occupation waged a large-scale attack on nuclear and military facilities in Iran, resulting in the deaths of key figures, including a top general and nuclear scientists. In retaliation, Iran fired a salvo of missiles at the Israeli occupation, further intensifying the conflict in the region.
