Los Angeles: US President Donald J. Trump stated that Los Angeles has been "safe and sound" for the past two nights following five days of large-scale protests against immigration enforcement raids. At the same time, Governor Gavin Newscum has called on demonstrators to maintain peaceful protests. "Our great National Guard, with a little help from the Marines, put the LA Police in a position to effectively do their job," Trump wrote on his Social Truth account. According to Kuwait News Agency, Trump emphasized that the collaboration between the military and local police forces prevented Los Angeles from becoming a "crime scene" as severe as any in recent years. He criticized Governor Newscum for losing control of the situation and accused him of incompetence, suggesting that the governor should be grateful for the intervention rather than attempting to justify his actions. Governor Newscum responded by urging continued peaceful pressure from the protesters. He expressed concern over the immigration raids, d escribing them as violent and lacking due process, with people being taken off the streets and children left without their parents. Newscum contrasted Trump's approach with what he believes is the compassionate nature of the American people. Meanwhile, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) defended the actions of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents. They stated that ICE is focused on removing dangerous individuals from Los Angeles to protect American citizens. The DHS emphasized the administration's commitment to the safety of ICE officers, condemning those who obstruct ICE operations as supporting criminal elements. The department declared that the protests would not hinder their law enforcement efforts.
