Kuwait city: Chief of Mission of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Kuwait, Mazen Aboulhosn, praised Kuwait’s efforts and notable progress in improving its global ranking in combating human trafficking.
According to Kuwait News Agency, Aboulhosn highlighted Kuwait’s continuous efforts, led by the National Committee to Combat Trafficking in Persons, along with all concerned ministries. He emphasized that these efforts reflect strong political will and a solid institutional commitment toward improving Kuwait’s global standing in the fight against human trafficking.
Aboulhosn further mentioned that Kuwait’s progress affirms its commitment to international standards through the launch of the national strategy to combat trafficking in persons for 2025-2028. This strategy focuses on developing the legal framework, establishing a national referral system, building capacity, and enhancing regional and international cooperation.
He also noted that the IOM mission reaffirms its full support and commitment to working alongside Kuwait’s authorities, aiming for integration on a global scale and achieving a top-tier status in the coming years.
Minister of Justice and Chair of the National Committee to Combat Trafficking in Persons and Migrant Smuggling, Counselor Nasser Al-Sanea, stated that Kuwait’s ranking in the 2025 US State Department Report improved from Tier 2 Watch List, where it had remained for three consecutive years, to Tier 2.
