London: British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and the visiting US President Donald Trump signed on Thursday "the technological prosperity treaty" for boosting cooperation in advanced technology and pumping investments worth billions of dollars into the sector. Trump, speaking during the signing ceremony at the British prime minister's rural retreat west of London, stated that this historic treaty would render the US-British partnership much stronger.
According to Kuwait News Agency, Trump emphasized that the US desires to be the strongest and closest trade partner with the UK, highlighting the presence of leading businessmen from the two nations. He mentioned that the treaty would enable the two countries to lead the world in the realm of artificial intelligence. Trump elaborated that his tariffs policy has enabled the American economy to recover quickly, noting that growth of foreign investments in the US has soared to USD 17 billion.
For his part, Starmer expressed that the accord would facilitate the flow of tens of billions USD across the Atlantic to fund mega projects and ultimately turn Britain into a global industrial hub. The treaty, along with the simultaneous declaration regarding the investment of USD 200 billion, is the largest on record in UK history, Trump noted, indicating that it covered cooperation in peaceful nuclear energy for generating power.
The agreement, first revealed yesterday, covers cooperation in high technology, namely artificial intelligence, computing, and nuclear energy. Earlier, the British government announced securing USD 204 billion worth of planned investments by American conglomerates, including Microsoft and Google.
