Kuwait city: The State of Kuwait has issued a call for the establishment of a Middle East region devoid of nuclear weapons, emphasizing the importance of this step for both regional and international peace and security.
According to Kuwait News Agency, during the 69th IAEA General Conference, Bandar Al-Fagaan, third Secretary at the Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs, highlighted that collective security could be achieved by creating zones free of nuclear arsenals and Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMDs). He noted that this was an attainable goal for the international community and would help build trust among nations. Al-Fagaan pointed to successful international examples in Latin America, Southeast Asia, and Africa, emphasizing that political will was crucial.
The Kuwaiti diplomat criticized the Israeli occupation for being the sole country not part of the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and insisted that its nuclear facilities should be inspected to move towards a nuclear-free Middle East. He urged the international community to take responsibility and compel the Israeli occupation to join global treaties and allow inspections of its nuclear sites.
Al-Fagaan reaffirmed Kuwait's commitment to all UN and IAEA resolutions and decisions, restating the nation's dedication to global security and peace.
