Kuwait city: UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer on Friday rejected the Israeli occupation government's decision to take control of Gaza as "wrong", calling for reconsidering it. "The Israeli Government's decision to further escalate its offensive in Gaza is wrong, and we urge it to reconsider immediately," he said in a press statement.
According to Kuwait News Agency, Starmer expressed that the escalation would not contribute to ending the conflict or securing the release of hostages, but would only result in more bloodshed. He emphasized the necessity of ensuring a ceasefire and increasing humanitarian aid to the enclave, highlighting the worsening humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
The UK Prime Minister also noted his country's efforts, in collaboration with allies, to develop a long-term plan for peace in the region. He reiterated the UK's commitment to a two-state solution as a pathway to achieving a brighter future for both Palestinians and Israelis.
Earlier in the day, the Israeli occupation government approved its head, Benjamin Netanyahu's, plan to take control of Gaza City and expand its military operations.
