Munich: UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer and European leaders have emphasized the importance of the Euro-Atlantic partnership and enhancing defense capabilities to address security challenges, including those posed by Russia, a government statement announced on Friday.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the discussions occurred during meetings with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and French President Emmanuel Macron at the 62nd Munich Security Conference. The leaders expressed their commitment to collaborating with other partners to strengthen collective defense and security measures.
The statement highlighted the consensus that Europe must take more responsibility in sharing the defense burden while maintaining the Euro-Atlantic partnership's resilience. It further stated, "They confirmed their enduring support for Ukraine, especially in the face of Russia's recent attacks, and the ongoing work to secure a just and lasting peace." The Munich Security Conference, running from February 13 to 15, features participation from numerous high-ranking officials, including His Highness the Prime Minister of Kuwait Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah.
