UK Lifts Sanctions on 24 Syrian Entities

London: The UK lifted on Thursday asset freezes on 24 Syrian entities, including the Central Bank of Syria, that were previously used by the Assad regime to fund the oppression of the Syrian people.

According to Kuwait News Agency, the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office stated that the move underscores "our commitment to help Syrians rebuild their country and economy, including through support for a Syrian-led and Syrian-owned political transition process."

The entities also include Syrian Arab Airlines and various energy companies. The statement clarified that while these sanctions have been lifted, sanctions on members of the Assad regime and those engaged in the illicit trade of captagon remain in place. The statement emphasized that "we will continue to judge Syria's interim authorities by their actions, not their words."
