UK Imposes Sanctions on Syrian Regime’s Militias and Individuals Over Violence Charges

London: The UK has imposed sanctions on certain groups and individuals from the former Syrian regime on charges of committing violence and crimes against Syrian civilians, as announced by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office on Friday.

According to Kuwait News Agency, the sanctions include a travel ban and the freezing of properties and assets belonging to six individuals from the former Syrian regime, as well as three entities identified as armed militias by the ministry. The targeted individuals are Ghaith Dalla, a former senior regime military commander and leader of a pro-regime militia, Miqdad Fatiha, also a former regime military commander and militia leader, and Mohammad al-Jasim, a commander of the Sultan Suleiman Shah militia group. Others include Sayf Boulad, commander of the Hamza Division militia group, and businessmen Mudallal Khoury and Imad Khoury, who are accused of financing the Assad regime's activities.

The statement further detailed that the organisations now facing an asset freeze are the Sultan Murad Division, the Sultan Suleiman Shah Division commanded by Mohammad al-Jasim, and the Hamzat Division led by Sayf Boulad.

The UK government emphasized its ongoing commitment to supporting the Syrian people in rebuilding their nation and economy, aiming for a future that is more stable, free, and prosperous.
