London: The Kingdom of Spain and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland have signed a strategic bilateral framework in London aimed at strengthening their partnership. The agreement is designed to reinforce the existing ties between the two nations, emphasizing their shared commitment to the principles of the United Nations Charter, human rights, and free trade.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the collaborative framework draws on the longstanding friendship and partnership between the UK and Spain. The agreement aims to foster cooperation across various sectors, including economic growth, European security, climate change, and global health. Furthermore, both countries are focused on addressing global challenges such as climate change and advocating for the rights of women and girls.
The statement from the UK Prime Minister's Office highlights that the partnership complements the UK-EU framework, recognizing the enhanced cooperation established after the 2025 EU-UK Summit. The bilateral cooperation is intended to align with Spain's EU membership and the UK's relationship with the EU through existing and future agreements.
The framework will be structured around an annual strategic dialogue, covering areas such as sustainable growth, foreign and development policy, climate and energy transition, and security. This structured cooperation reflects the commitment of both countries to work together on common goals and enhance stability and security in Europe.
