Los Angeles: U.S. President Donald Trump toured the Los Angeles area in southern California late Friday to survey the destruction from deadly ongoing wildfires that have caused heavy casualties and damage. Speaking to reporters upon arrival in Los Angeles, Trump said that he would seek to work with Democratic Governor of California Gavin Newsom to fight the blazes, which erupted on January 7.
According to Kuwait News Agency, Trump expressed his willingness to collaborate with Governor Newsom despite their political differences. After shaking hands with Newsom, who is one of Trump's fiercest critics, Trump commented, "I appreciate the governor coming out and meeting me." He emphasized the urgency of addressing the wildfire crisis by stating, "We want to get it fixed."
Governor Newsom acknowledged Trump's visit and expressed gratitude, stating, "We're going to need your support, we're going to need your help." The wildfires have wreaked havoc in California over recent weeks, resulting in the deaths of at least 28 people and the destruction of 55,082 acres and 16,188 buildings.
