U.S. President Trump Declares Syria on Path to Success Amid Renewed Violence

Washington: U.S. President Donald Trump announced that Syria is on a path to success, urging an end to the ongoing crisis between the Kurdish population and the Syrian government. Addressing reporters at the White House, Trump expressed optimism about Syria's future while acknowledging the resurgence of conflict in the region.

According to Kuwait News Agency, Trump emphasized the importance of ending the violence, stating, "I believe Syria is on the path to success, the crisis has just begun, and we want to see it end." He highlighted the United States' desire for Syria's success and noted the progress made so far, although he acknowledged the recent escalation in hostilities. Trump also stressed the positive relationships that Washington maintains with all parties involved in the Syrian conflict.

In a related development, the Syrian Ministry of Defense declared a ceasefire on Friday in the Aleppo neighborhoods of Sheikh Maqsoud, Ashrafieh, and Bani Zaid. The ceasefire aims to halt the military confrontations in these areas and facilitate the restoration of law and official institutions. This decision follows intense clashes between government forces and Kurdish fighters that resulted in the deaths of at least 21 people and displaced thousands. The recent violence is noted as the most severe since the current government assumed power last year.

The ongoing conflict in Aleppo, Syria's second-largest city, has seen government forces engaged in combat with the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) since the beginning of the week. The declaration of a ceasefire marks a pivotal step towards stabilizing the region and addressing the humanitarian crisis precipitated by the violent confrontations.
