Washington: U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Tuesday that a U.S. military operation in Venezuela led to the capture of President Nicolas Maduro. Trump described the operation as "so brilliant" during a speech to the House of Representatives.
According to Kuwait News Agency, President Trump detailed how the military maneuver involved personnel "jumping out of helicopters" and strategically cutting off electricity across Venezuela, including in its capital, Caracas. The blackout left most of the country in darkness, with only those possessing candles having any form of light. Trump highlighted that this unexpected tactic caught the Venezuelan leadership by surprise, facilitating the capture of Maduro.
During his address, Trump criticized the deposed leader, labeling him as "a violent guy" and accusing him of killing and torturing millions. He claimed that Maduro had maintained a torture chamber in Caracas, which is now being dismantled. Additionally, Trump took the opportunity to praise the quality of U.S. military weapons, while acknowledging a need to accelerate their production. He emphasized the superiority of U.S. arsenal and called for increased pressure on manufacturing companies to enhance production speed, asserting that the U.S. possesses the world's best weapons, but production delays hinder their availability.
