U.S. Embassy in Kuwait: Zero Tolerance for Visa Lawbreakers

Kuwait City: The U.S. Embassy in Kuwait announced that the United States maintains a strict policy of zero tolerance towards non-citizens who violate U.S. laws, emphasizing the potential consequences for such actions.

According to Kuwait News Agency, the embassy's spokesperson, Stewart Burns, stated in a press release that the consequences for breaking U.S. laws, including for students, can include visa denial, visa revocation, or deportation. Burns highlighted the importance placed by the United States on national security and public safety through its visa process, although specific cases could not be discussed due to privacy and confidentiality concerns.

Burns explained that the State Department considers new information that emerges after a visa has been issued. This information, which may suggest potential visa ineligibility under U.S. immigration laws or a threat to public safety, can lead to visa revocation. Instances warranting revocation include arrests, criminal convictions, conduct inconsistent with the visa classification, or overstaying the visa.

He also mentioned that individuals whose visas have been revoked can reapply for a new visa in the future. A new determination regarding their visa eligibility will be made at that time.
