U.S. Diplomat and Kurdish Leader Discuss Syria Developments

Ankara: U.S. Ambassador to Turkiye and Special Envoy for Syria Thomas Barrack discussed the latest developments in Syria with leader of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) Masoud Barzani on Saturday. The conversation was centered around the political conditions in the region, recent developments, and tensions, especially in the city of Aleppo.

According to Kuwait News Agency, the KDP released a statement indicating that the discussions took place during a phone call. Both parties exchanged views on the current political climate and stressed the importance of exerting efforts to de-escalate tensions. They emphasized the need to end unrest and clashes, and to take significant steps towards restoring security, stability, and achieving peace.

Furthermore, it was noted that Barzani engaged in a separate phone call on Friday with Syrian President Ahmad Al-Sharaa to deliberate on political developments in Syria and regional changes.
