U.S. Condemns Attack on UNIFIL Convoy in Beirut

Beirut: The U.S. condemned the attack on a United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) convoy in the Lebanese capital, Beirut, on Friday evening, which left multiple injuries.

According to Kuwait News Agency, Spokesperson for the U.S. Department of State Tammy Bruce stated in a press release late Friday that the attack was reportedly carried out by a group of Hezbollah supporters. The incident resulted in multiple injuries to UN peacekeepers.

Bruce commended the Lebanese Armed Forces for their prompt response, which helped prevent further violence. She highlighted the Lebanese government's commitment to taking all necessary measures to hold those responsible accountable for their actions.

UNIFIL reported that the convoy, which was transporting peacekeepers to Beirut airport, was violently attacked. During the incident, a vehicle was set on fire, and the outgoing Deputy Force Commander, who was returning home after completing his mission, sustained injuries.
